An early evening drive on a late spring day yields potential to see a sight that only avails itself a couple of times a year in Michigan’s Thumb.

Kinde, Michigan is a slice of a true American farming community in the Thumb. The village was founded in the 1880’s and is still vibrant today
Port Crescent State Park, located in southern Michigan, was once a thriving lumber town before becoming a ghost town. Today, it offers outdoor activities and preserves a rich history, including remnants of its past, amid scenic natural beauty along Lake Huron.
We are sometimes drawn to an abandoned farmhouse or structure not because of it’s beauty, but because we think there is a story. behind the decay.

The Bach General Store, long since closed. Once the center of the community, these shops were common in the days before Walmart and Dollar General.
The past pandemic has caused folks to curtail travel. However a new interest in camping now giving families safe way to be outdoors and explore safely.
Also the Michigan DNR has worked with local companies that offer RV and camper rental delivery and set up services in Michigan’s State Parks. This allows outdoor camping for those who want the experience of staying in a camper but not the ownership of one.
On the shores of Lake Huron near the tip of Michigan’s Thumb is a well appointed cottage community that used to be a thriving company lumber town. New River Michigan as been almost erased by time and nature.
