Caseville is a little city in Michigan’s Thumb that calls it itself the “perch capital of the world”. Located at the mouth of the Pigeon River that help make this area a boating destination. Well known for its large sandy beach, abundant fishing and its unique shops and festivities.
The area is known for its abundance of vacation homes and cottages. Blessed with sugar sand along the beach, it’s been drawing families to spend the summers here for over two generations.
Home of the Shanty Days Festival in the winter and the famous Cheeseburger Festival in the closing days of the summer. Caseville is the fun city in the thumb.

We take a photo journey over the past 7 years as the Rummel and Woldt General Store is being transformed. The owner, Tim Voss is literally doing a labor of love to restore one of the last general stores in Michigan.
The Shipwreck distillery has a nautical motif. You’re greeted with a full-size cabin cruiser perched on rocks in the front.
Once inside, you belly up to a full polished bow of an old boat towed over from Algonac as the tasting bar. The cozy shop is warm and inviting.
We encountered many folks who have come up to Michigan’s Upper Thumb for their entire lives but never have seen these top ten sites. They offer a glimpse of the history and beauty of native Michigan and its Great Lakes.

Huron County blocks off an public lake access point and boat ramp at Oak Beach County Park. Used for over 50 years by fishermen and kayakers. A group has formed to protest and seek improvements to the boat launch.
An institution in the Upper Thumb and owned by the same family for 50 years the restaurant celebrates it golden anniversary in 2016. Favored by locals and sought out by tourists, Walt’s is considered one of the top breakfast places in the Thumb.
Pontiac, Oxford & Northern Railroad (P.O. & N) ran from September 1889 until the last service run of the full length of the line on February 9, 1984.
