We look for places to see geared for families on a budget. We look for unique and one-of-a-kind spots that the tourists don’t know about.

Michigan has been a traveler’s destination for over 100 years. That is part of our Michigan history, and many great sites and stories came as a result.

We commonly take a road trip throughout Michigan to explore some out-of-the-way places that we want to know more about.

Destinations include; Michigan’s Upper Penninsula, The sunrise coast, the wine-producing areas and vineyards of Traverse and Southwest Michigan, the greater Detroit area, and even nearby Illinois and Ohio.

Exploring Banff Hot Springs at the Cave & Basin National Historic Site – Canada’s Birthplace of National Parks

Nestled within the mighty Canadian Rockies, Banff Hot Springs had an interesting birth. In 1883, during the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway, three railway workers stumbled upon thermal springs on Sulfur Mountain’s northeast slope. To protect these natural resources, they made the bold move of establishing Canada’s first national park, Banff National Park, in 1885, and declared the hot springs as reserved land. The Banff Upper Hot Springs we see today, managed by Parks Canada, is one of nine naturally occurring hot springs in the park.
