Oxford was a key junction where the Pontiac, Oxford & Northern Railroad (PO&N) crossed another major line at grade — a setup that later required an interlocking tower known as “XN” to control train movements. The PO&N line is better remembered today by its longtime nickname, the Polly Ann.
