Passengers and baggage carts line the platform outside the Michigan Central Railroad depot in Ann Arbor, Mich., as trains roll past on multiple tracks.

The stone station on Depot Street was built in 1886 in the Richardsonian Romanesque style, designed by Detroit architects Spier & Rohns. Later, it was repurposed as the Gandy Dancer restaurant — keeping the turrets and arched windows that once welcomed rail travelers into town.
