At approximately 6:45 p.m. yesterday evening, the Lexington Fire Department responded swiftly to an emergency call reporting a structure fire at the Lexington RV Resort. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke billowing from the eaves of a building, signaling a fully involved blaze.

The rapid deployment by the Lexington Fire Department (LFD) included the immediate establishment of a water supply from a nearby hydrant. Firefighters quickly identified and attacked the seat of the fire, mitigating extensive damage to surrounding structures. Their initial attack was soon supported by units from the Croswell Fire Department, dispatched through an automatic mutual aid agreement.

Coordinated Effort Ensures Efficient Fire Control and Safety Measures

Upon arrival, Croswell Fire Department personnel entered the structure with a secondary hose line, significantly bolstering the firefighting effort. The teamwork between Lexington and Croswell crews rapidly brought the blaze under control, and firefighters moved into the overhaul phase, extinguishing hotspots to prevent any rekindling.

Additional emergency services were on scene to provide support, including officers from the Lexington Police Department, deputies from the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Department, and paramedics from Croswell EMS. Their coordinated presence ensured efficient traffic management, safety, and preparedness for any potential injuries, though none were reported.

Fire Investigators Seek Answers on Lexington RV Resort Blaze

The homeowner was not present at the time of the fire, eliminating immediate personal injury concerns. As of now, the cause of the fire remains undetermined. Investigators from the fire departments and local law enforcement agencies are conducting a thorough investigation to uncover the origin and circumstances surrounding the fire.

The swift action by emergency crews significantly limited the extent of property damage and prevented any escalation of the fire, which could have posed a risk to the numerous RVs and additional structures within the Lexington RV Resort.
