Millionaire Raffle Leads to Life-Changing Win in Michigan

A 63-year-old Oceana County resident is the latest to join Michigan’s growing list of millionaires after winning the top prize in the Michigan Lottery’s Millionaire Raffle game. The woman, who requested anonymity, hit the $1 million jackpot after initially winning $100 in an unrelated online game and deciding to reinvest a portion of those winnings.

“I won $100 playing an online game, so I decided to use some of my winnings to purchase Powerball and Mega Millions tickets online,” she said in a press statement provided by the Lottery. “When I was purchasing those tickets, I saw the Millionaire Raffle game and thought: ‘Why not?’ and purchased one ticket.”

The purchase paid off—big. The player forgot about the ticket until she received an email from the Lottery notifying her of a pending prize. She logged into her MichiganLottery.com account and was stunned to see the $1 million prize. “I logged out and logged back in several times and the prize was still there, so I knew it had to be real,” she said. “I am still trying to wrap my head around it!”

A Spontaneous Decision Turns Into a Big Payout

Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli acknowledged the win, stating: “Purchasing a Millionaire Raffle ticket on a whim led to a huge $1 million payday for this lucky player!”

The winner claimed her prize at Lottery headquarters and shared that she plans to save the winnings.

What Is the Millionaire Raffle Game?

The Millionaire Raffle launched on December 10, 2024, as an auto-renewing raffle that offers 100,000 tickets per drawing. Once all tickets are sold, a drawing is conducted that awards:

  • One $1 million top prize
  • One hundred $1,000 prizes

Tickets for the next round become available immediately following each drawing. Tickets can be checked on the Lottery’s official site or by logging into a personal account.

Online Lottery Participation on the Rise in Michigan

  • Instant win games

  • Mega Millions
  • Lucky for Life
  • Lotto 47
  • Fantasy 5

Ticket prices range from 5 cents to $50. Michigan’s digital Lottery platform continues to expand, offering convenient access and a wide range of potential payouts for players across the state.
