(Which is 2019 is mostly underwater). The Indian ensured that fresh game and food items were placed on the site as an offering. Gitchie Manitou or Great Spirit would recognize the offering by the Anishinabeg as a token of thanks for the bounty and richness of the peninsula.

On summer evenings we can see the blinking lights of the Tawas area from our beach. It’s a day’s sail from Caseville but a several hour drive from the Upper Thumb. The bay is clear due to the currents coming in from Lake Huron and the little town nestled near the harbor is a charming mix of tourist and art colony.
On February 12, the US military shot down a third unidentified flying object over Lake Huron. The operation, instructed by President Biden, involved an F-16 firing an AIM-9x missile due to concerns over the object’s altitude posing a risk to civil aviation. This coincided with reports of restricted airspace for national defense.
