In 1878, the Port Huron and Northwestern Railroad extended track from Port Huron to Sand Beach, aiding local economy. The railroad was crucial for transporting goods and later converted to standard gauge. Accidents and declining use led to discontinuation of rail services in 1995, with the historic depot repurposed for lodging.
The 34th Yale Bologna Festival is back, celebrating C. Roy’s 100th anniversary with an Old Hollywood flair. The festival features bologna-themed events, including a food tent, crowning of royalty, fireworks, bologna ring toss, outhouse races, parade, live music, kids activities, and more. Taking place from July 26 to 28, 2024 in Downtown Yale, MI, it offers free admission and promises endless fun for all ages.
