Finding Fun in Michigan & Beyond
Michigan Travel – While our focus is Michigan’s Thumb region, we strike out across the Great Lakes and find fun and things to do.
We look for places to see geared for families on a budget. We look for unique and one-of-a-kind spots that the tourists don’t know about.
Michigan has been a traveler’s destination for over 100 years. That is part of our Michigan history, and many great sites and stories came as a result.
We commonly take a road trip throughout Michigan to explore some out-of-the-way places that we want to know more about.
Destinations include; Michigan’s Upper Penninsula, The sunrise coast, the wine-producing areas and vineyards of Traverse and Southwest Michigan, the greater Detroit area, and even nearby Illinois and Ohio.

by The Capac Railroad Depot is a bit off the beaten path. Situated east of Imlay City, it maintains the vibrant small town rural charm found in Michigan. The town is located between Port Huron and Flint. The historic railroad depot is also home to one of the finest small town museums in the region.
by Caseville Shanty 2019 is the 27th edition of this Winter Festival. This offers mid-winter fun on the ice. It’s the largest winter carnival in the Upper Thumb.
by Fort Gratiot light was built in April 1829. It was situated north of an older tower light that has collapsed into the St. Clair river after a violent storm. The tower was constructed of brick to the height of 65 feet. In 1862 the height was increased to 82 feet to match the focal point of a new 4th order Fresnel lens.
