The beach is ADA accessible with a boardwalk and wheelchair mat path that goes right down to the water. Personally, I love to bring a cooler and spend a whole day relaxing on the beach. And the best part? It’s only an hour away from my home!
The best-kept secret of Tierney Park is its entrance to the walking path along the 1,900-foot breakwall. You can walk into Lexington Harbor and view boat activity or take in a beautiful sunrise.

We visited the Lexington Village Pub while in the area and were impressed with its relaxed atmosphere, a wide selection of beers on tap, and a menu featuring pub favorites like burgers, fish and chips, and chicken wings. The pub seems to have originally been two separate establishments that were combined, with two entrances and two bars. While one side had a band playing, we chose to sit in the quieter area. The bartenders were friendly and provided great service. The locals were also welcoming, and the overall atmosphere was inviting.
You can find many beers on tap, but you need to ask for a draft menu to see the full selection. In addition to the tap beers, many bottled beer options and a full bar are available. Being close to the water, we plan to return when we have more time to explore.
The Windjammer Bar and Grill
If you’re looking for a restaurant with a stunning view, the Windjammer is a great choice. Whenever I’m passing through Lexington, I make sure to stop here for lunch. The outdoor patio has a vacation vibe, making it a relaxing spot to be. They serve a variety of cocktails and the food is delicious. I usually head to the beach afterward, so I opt for an appetizer to avoid feeling too full. However, the main courses look tempting as well. I highly recommend adding the Windjammer to your itinerary if you’re in the area.
The Lakeview Donut Shop
The Lakeview Donut Shop is easy to miss unless you’re traveling down the highway or familiar with the area. We stumbled upon it while waiting to check in to our Airbnb and decided to give it a try. Although it may not appear to have been cleaned recently, the donut case was in decent condition. The elderly gentleman who runs the place seems to wear the same uniform every day – a white shirt and either tan or black pants. The prices are reasonable, but be aware that they may only accept cash. Nonetheless, we had no issues with this.
