Among the year’s highlights was the introduction of Breeze Airways, now offering nonstop flights to Orlando and Fort Myers. The airline’s arrival aims to provide affordable, convenient travel options, particularly to warm-weather destinations. Breeze Airways appeals to families and solo travelers alike with free family seating and flexible booking policies.
This expansion is part of LAN’s broader goal to make air travel more accessible and convenient for the Lansing region.
Sustainable Aviation Takes Off with Electric Chargers
Sustainability was a key focus for LAN in 2024. The airport partnered with BETA Technologies, Michigan Economic Development Corporation, and AvFlight LAN to install electric aircraft chargers, paving the way for Advanced Air Mobility (AAM). These chargers are set to improve efficiency for both passengers and cargo while supporting high-tech job creation in the area.
This innovative step aligns with Michigan’s broader push toward clean energy and sustainable infrastructure.

Preparing the Next Generation of Aviation Leaders
To address the growing demand for skilled professionals in the aviation industry, LAN collaborated with Eaton Regional Education Service Agency (RESA) and Lansing Community College (LCC) to launch programs for high school and college students.
The Aviation Careers Institute (ACI) provides hands-on experience for aspiring aviation professionals, while LCC’s Aviation Technology Program offers advanced training in aircraft maintenance and repair. Both initiatives aim to cultivate a local workforce that can meet the industry’s future needs.
Safety and Emergency Preparedness: Always a Priority
In 2024, LAN conducted a triennial emergency response and disaster training exercise, involving mutual aid partners and airport personnel. This exercise ensures readiness to handle crises and underscores the airport’s commitment to safety.
Additionally, LAN continues to refine its Strategic Master Plan, incorporating community feedback to enhance traveler experience and operational efficiency.
