Blissfield Energy led the construction of the Michigan Wind 2 near Minden City. The 50 turbine, 90 megawatt wind project is the first commercial wind project developed by Exelon Wind. It was completed in January 2012. The wind farm produces enough energy to power approximately 30,000 homes. Consumers Energy is purchasing energy from the project.

Blissfield Energy highlights the construction of the Michigan Wind 2. This is a five-minute overview of wind turbine construction in Michigan’s Thumb.
The industrial wind farm consists of 50 turbines, with a total of 90-megawatt of power. It’s the first commercial wind project developed by Exelon Wind. Under a long term agreement, Consumers Energy is purchasing energy from the project.
Exelon is America’s 12th largest wind producer, with 47 projects in 10 states and nearly 1,500 megawatts of energy. Wind power captures the natural, renewable energy source in our atmosphere and converts it to electricity.
The completion of this project in 2012 brought Exelon Wind’s generating capacity in Michigan to 212 MWs. This puts Exelon Wind as the largest wind operator in Michigan in terms of generated power. The project is located near the 46 turbines of the Michigan Wind 1 project in Ubly.
Exelon Wind also operates Harvest I Wind in Elkton and Harvest II Wind, near Pigeon.
