This weekend was typically the start of Cheeseburger in Caseville. An annual tribute to Jimmy Buffet’s Cheeseburger in Paradise tune. However, due to the 2020 Pandemic, the Caseville Chamber of Commerce canceled the event. In its place, local businesses formed a semi-organized, Slice of Cheeseburger.

Gone were the vast army of BBQs lined up shoulder to shoulder sizzling up cheeseburger concoctions of every possible type. However several vendors had set up shop at the Caseville United Methodist Church and around the Memorial Park in the center of town. The town was busy with folks browsing the shops along Main street in the beautiful Saturday afternoon sunshine.

In keeping with a bit of tradition even in unusual circumstances, the Caseville Kiwanis held a cheeseburger cook-off and announced the best cheeseburger in Caseville for 2020. This year’s winner is Iggie’s Pizza on the Bay. Iggies edged out 13 other entrants with it’s appropriately named burger, “The Lockdown.” This 1/2 pound of Angus with red onion, crispy bacon, and fried onion, topped with cheddar cheese, garlic aioli sauce on a brioche bun. Yummy!

Car Show at Caseville

A classic car show was held near Wooded Island Sports Grill. This event was considered consistent with the current Executive Orders including golf outings, outside vendors, and other smaller-scale events.
