The Port Austin Butterfly House and Garden, located at 8699 Adams Street in Port Austin, Michigan, is a community-driven sanctuary dedicated to the conservation and education of native butterfly species. Established in 2017 by the Port Austin Lions Club to commemorate their 100-year anniversary, the facility features a 30-by-50-foot netted enclosure surrounded by meticulously landscaped gardens. Visitors can observe various stages of butterfly development and learn about the plants that support these pollinators. ?

Throughout the summer months, the Butterfly House hosts butterfly releases, with the first release typically occurring in late June and continuing randomly until early to mid-September. A significant release event is held on the Friday before the Fourth of July. The facility also offers private releases for special occasions such as birthdays or anniversaries. Operated with support from volunteers and organizations like the Huron County Community Foundation and the Village Downtown Development Authority, the Butterfly House serves as both an educational resource and a tranquil retreat for nature enthusiasts.
