Collision With A Deer South of Port Austin Kills Midland Man

Two drivers who were on their way to work yesterday morning, September 4th, discovered the wreckage of a 2006 Buick Lucerne in the east side ditch of M 53, just south of Hunter Road in Dwight Township. After inspecting the area, they discovered that the driver was the only occupant and had been ejected, dying close to the vehicle.

In a release from the Huron County Sheriff, the 26-year-old Midland man was northbound when after a collision with a deer, he lost control and was ultimately ejected out of his automobile, according to a preliminary inquiry. The exact timing of the accident is unknown. However, he was last in communication with people about five hours prior. The victim was on a family vacation in the Port Austin region.

Huron County Sheriff’s accident investigators responded, and an autopsy is planned for the following week. Therefore, this examination will go on.

The Kinde Fire Department, the Port Austin Fire Department, and Central Huron Ambulance Service North supported the incident. The name of the victim is being withheld pending confirmation by the Huron County Sheriff that the family has been notified.
