Huron County Sheriff Responds to 20+ Accidents

The winter storm currently crossing Michigan has hit the Upper Thumb particularly hard. Sheriff Kelly Hanson has issued this urgent plea a few minutes ago.

“The diving situation in Huron County has become urgent. Deputies, assisting county police agencies, firemen, and the road commission, are currently responding to multiple accidents across the county. Not only has the visibility deteriorated further, but the road surfaces in some spots have also gotten challenging.”

Hanson Asks You To Stay Off Roads

“All Huron County drivers are requested to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary. Last minute Christmas shopping is not a good reason to be on the roads either. This excuse has already been connected to at least one accident. As of the time of this release, I’m estimating that we have responded to at least 20 incidents since earlier this morning. Most have been vehicles in the ditch or being non-injury fender benders.”
