Downtown Port Huron’s Bank Corner, Then and Now

Huron Avenue in Port Huron is captured here in the streetcar era — rails in the street, a web of overhead wires, and a busy downtown corner anchored by a “National Bank Building.” The Library of Congress notes that a Neo-Classical Revival National Bank Building was constructed on this site in 1903–1904, at 107–111 Huron Ave., and that it was heavily altered in 1936 (today known as the Fox Building).

The “now” view shows how that same angled corner still shapes the streetscape, even as cars replaced trolleys and storefronts changed.

What businesses do you remember along Huron Avenue — and do you recall when the streetcar tracks disappeared?
