Michigan’s Efforts with Green Energy

Michigan is actively pursuing green energy initiatives. The state invested nearly $3 billion in renewable energy projects from 2008 to 2017 (Advanced Energy Economy). Legislation passed in 2016 increased the renewable portfolio standard to 15% by 2021 (Michigan.gov). The state also encourages residents to use solar power through net metering programs (DSIRE). As a result, Michigan’s green energy sector now employs more than 125,000 people (Clean Jobs Midwest).
