300 Sites Across Michigan Now Offer Free Contraception Resources

This initiative aims to empower Michiganders with increased access to birth control and essential family planning resources, regardless of insurance coverage.

Participating locations range from community partners and local health departments to Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) offices and federally qualified health centers, ensuring availability across every county in the state. Whitmer Advocates for Reproductive Health Autonomy

Governor Whitmer emphasized the importance of the initiative in supporting individual freedom over reproductive health decisions. “Decisions about reproductive health care should be between a woman, her doctor, and her trusted community,” Whitmer stated. “With free contraception available at more than 300 locations, we’re taking bold steps to support the health and future of all Michiganders.”

Launched in 2023, Plan First! extends Medicaid benefits to cover family planning services for those who do not qualify for traditional Medicaid. This benefit is available to Michigan residents who meet specific income requirements, providing services such as birth control, STI testing, and treatment.
