Bay Port Fish Co. 1996

Bay Port Fish Co. in 1996 – A Retrospective

I have a great collection of pictures my parents took of the Upper Thumb region in the 1980s and 90s. They had started Thumb Impressions and traveled all over the region looking for unique photo opportunities. One session was at Bay Port Fish Company. They are a great snapshot of the area from over 25 years ago. While much has changed over the years, many sites around Huron County look the same.

A small part of this collection was taken in July 1996 at the Bay Port Fish Co. It was bright but overcast, and it looked to have been a hectic day with a new catch of whitefish. There are many people that I don’t recognize. Maybe you can identify them in the comments below.

Bringing in the Catch

– Henry David Thoreau

The great trawler fleets sweep the seas and deliver their daily catch to tables worldwide, but they do more than that. They deliver hope, give life itself.
