Amphibians of Michigan Make Appearance at Huron County Nature Center, July 16

The sky’s wide for natural science learning at the Huron County Nature Center. On Saturday, July 16, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., join Nature Discovery from Williamston, MI, for an informative presentation about the amphibians of Michigan; frogs, toads, and salamanders. In addition, Jim McGrath will share information about Michigan’s living resources.

Learn about the species of our state’s frog population in severe decline due to various factors and how you can learn about their biology and our impact on their habitat.

Jim will also share information about a Michigan amphibian, the salamanders. They are undergoing the same declines as frog populations but are more challenging to observe. Live specimens and slides are presented. Salamanders were found in Vernal Ponds at the Nature Center during the spring months.

The nature center, located at 3336 Loosemore Road, east of Oak Beach Road, provides hiking and biking trails and visitor’s centers open most weekends during the summer months.
