The head of Michigan’s Republican National Committee is scheduled to visit the wind farms in Huron County next week. The Huron Daily Tribune is reporting that Ronna Romney McDaniel, the niece of former presidential candidate Mitt Romney, will be in the upper thumb for a wind turbine tour.
It’s an ironic twist that the Republicans are now appearing to embrace renewable energy in Michigan. Credit should be given to former Democratic governor Jennifer Granholm who established Michigan’s renewable energy program back in 2008. Michigan set a goal of having 10% of produced energy from renewable sources such as wind energy by 2015. The Michigan Thumb hosts the most concentrated area for wind farms in the Great Lakes.
